Acacia Hills

Our Story

Acacia Hills is the result of Leon and his wife Eileen Christianakis’ vision to elevate Tanzanian coffee through quality, sustainability, and long-term impact.
After discovering specialty coffee in the early 2000s, Leon began searching for higher-altitude land capable of producing exceptional coffees. In 2007, together with his business partner Mark Stell, he acquired a farm on the slopes of Mount Oldeani in the Karatu region. Convinced by the area’s unique terroir and coffee-growing potential, they transformed the neglected property into what is now Acacia Hills.
Today, the farm cultivates a range of high-quality varieties, including Kent, SL28, Geisha, and Pacamara. Located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Acacia Hills benefits from a remarkable natural environment while coexisting with local wildlife, including elephants and buffalo.
Sustainability lies at the heart of Leon’s work. Beyond producing outstanding coffees, he is committed to creating a model that benefits farmers, workers, and the wider community. His approach represents both the rich history and the promising future of specialty coffee in Tanzania.
The result is a collection of coffees that showcase the unique character, vibrant acidity, and exceptional quality that Tanzania has to offer.
